Niranjan Kunwar is invested in literature, contemporary art, queer issues and pedagogy. His practice
focuses on investigating Nepal’s sociocultural and educational landscapes in order to encourage teachers
and students to create more spaces for creativity and critical thinking in their lives. He writes about
these ideas in order to reflect and document. He has a diploma in Narrative Practices and Ideas. In the
future, he hopes to be more involved in programs that actively seek to counter dominant discourses and
practices.
Niranjan Kunwar is a graduate of Budhanilkantha school in Kathmandu and Bennington College in Vermont. He
received an M.S.Ed from City University of New York in 2008 with a specialization in Childhood Education.
After working as an associate teacher in Manhattan’s private schools, he was hired by the New York City
Department of Education from 2008 until 2012.
